The „KTM X-BOW Battle“ – with this KTM plans on starting a spectacular racing-programme for its customers in 2010. In the scope of the well-known „Alpenpokal“-events there will be training sessions, qualifyings and of course two races per weekend as well. Georg Silbermayr, responsible for sales and motor sports at KTM: “We will create a proper one-make cup racing series for our customers, who can match themselves against like-minded people as from next year. And not only this: The „KTM X-BOW Battle“ has been sanctioned by the OSK – thus we will be crowning two national champions this year!“
The competition format allows every X-BOW owner – regardless of the X-BOW model they call their own – to take part in the races. „This was a prerequisite for us when we started to plan the series“, Georg Silbermayr explains. “Most of our customers are keen on racing – but just because of this not everyone wants to buy an X-BOW GT4 in order to start in the highly professional series such as the GT4 European Cup. And so we have created the perfect field of activity for all X-BOW owners. In addition to this you can arrange to hire X-BOWS during the racing weekends and we have KTM spare parts support on site! To participate you simply need the mandatory safety equipment like helmet, HANS-system, obligatory FIA-homologated clothing and a fire extinguisher in the car. Here we have an advantage with the X-BOW’s uncompromising racing technology. In many areas our production vehicle complies with higher safety standards than other manufacturers and their racing cars!”
In order to guarantee equal opportunities in the „KTM X-BOW Battle“ the field will be divided into three classes: Class 1 sees the start of street-legal cars only, without any technical changes – aside from a sports exhaust system. Class 2 also has street-legal cars at the start, however these may have up to 300 horsepower achieved with modifications of the ecu. And finally there is Class 3, which orientates itself mostly on the OSK-regulations for the class „E2-SH“. Generally speaking all modifications are allowed, but all vehicles must have a motoring safety tank, a headrest and a steel rollbar. GT4-X-BOWs may also start in this class.
Georg Silbermayr concluding: “This proves once again that you can be ‚Ready to Race’ with KTM’s products at any time!“ Info and all documents to download are available already on our homepage www.ktm-x-bow.com, further questions can be addressed to georg@silbermayr.de at any time.
